About Us

Empowering Youth Futures. WAYFYNDERS step up with PAYRISE.

OUR VISION

'GUIDING YOUTH TO RISE & THRIVE'

The Rise group trust board, established in 2022, was formed to respond to the need for stronger youth services and interventions within the Tāmaki College community. From those beginnings, it now drives a wider mission—backing young people to lead and shape the solutions themselves.

Through WAYFYNDERS Youth Services, the Trust supports youth to take charge of programs, projects, and enterprises that reflect their aspirations and community needs. Within this, PAYRISE boosts pathways into employment and enterprise, giving young people practical opportunities to build skills, earn income, and create sustainable futures.

How we got here

The PAYRISE Story

PAYRISE was born from our first employment program, Te Ara Maranga – Path to Rise, co-designed with rangatahi and MSD. Young people shared the same frustrations: scarce and low-paid jobs, unanswered applications, and limited real opportunities. Parents wanted balance between work and education, while employers hesitated over youth inexperience, reliability, and rising costs.

PAYRISE closes these gaps — connecting youth to real-world, supported opportunities that grow skills, confidence, and experience. The name blends PAY and RISE, symbolising economic uplift and the belief that when youth earn, they rise. Rooted in Project RISE at Tāmaki College (2022) and carried forward through the Rise Group Trust Board, PAYRISE is a next-generation pathway for youth employment and enterprise — starting in Tāmaki, expanding beyond.
